Orange Silica Gel - Moisture Absorber
As you all know, silica gel is not edible. Silica gel is available in 3 different colors. White, Blue, and orange silica gel. For personal precautions, it will always mention like "Do not eat". It is not good to inhale and when you are dealing with silica gel wear appropriate protective clothing.
If the atmosphere is not good and the conditions are dusty, you need to use a dust mask. It contains spillage also. Therefore collect in a suitable container for recovery or disposal. Also, during the collection time of orange silica gel and all other silica gel, avoid creating dust.
For your safety do not smoke during the time of handling orange silica gel or any other silica gel. It is not combustible. Anyway, you should take some prevention. You should be aware of engineering methods to prevent or control exposure are preferred. Methods include process or personnel enclosure, mechanical ventilation (dilution and local exhaust), and control of process conditions. Respiratory Protection Avoid inhalation of dust. Wear appropriate metabolism protecting instrumentality if operating in confined areas with inadequate ventilation or whenever there's any risk of the exposure limits being exceeded.
Moisture Absorber
Normally silica gel act as a good moisture absorber. It has a high adsorption capacity. Absorption and adsorption are different processes. Absorption is that the method during which a fluid is dissolved by a liquid or a solid (absorbent). Adsorption is the process in which atoms, ions or molecules from a substance (it could be gas, liquid or dissolved solid) adhere to a surface of the adsorbent.
Apart from silica gel, there are some other natural moisture absorbers. For example, charcoal is a good natural moisture absorber. Salt is a good moisture absorber. In some cases, rice is also a good moisture absorber. While instant couscous and instant rice work higher than raw rice.
Moisture absorbers help to keep things dry. By this, we can increase the shelf life of goods and products. There are natural moisture absorbers. But however, silica gel is the best one to absorb moisture quickly. It is a proven element.
