Orange Silica Gel

Silica gels are used as moisture absorbing solutions. Mostly they are used in food industries as well as in electronic devices manufacturing units. Silica gels have the capability to absorb moisture from the atmosphere and from the outer side of the materials. Therefore the goods and products become dry and its durability is increased.

Silica gels are commonly available in three colors. White silica, blue silica, and orange silica gel. Actually, white silica gel is a non-indicating silica gel, which means, when the silica gel absorbs moisture and wet, it will continue to be white. This kind of silica gel is commonly used in the packet and these packets are mostly used with electronic devices.

Blue silica gel contains cobalt chloride, it is in blue color at the initial time and when it absorbs moisture it changes to pink color. When it changes to pink color means, it reached its maximized adsorption capacity. When it becomes pink, it can be reactivated with heat. When it returns to blue again, it is ready to use. Orange silica gel will also change the color when it reaches the maximum absorption level.

Blue silica gels are not useful in food products as a moisture absorbing solutions because cobalt chloride is poisonous. Orange silica gel consists of methyl violet. It has the capability to change from orange color to green or orange color to colorless.

Orange silica gel is also toxic but it does have some medical advantages. Like blue silica gel, when the orange silica gel absorbs maximum moisture, it changes color from orange to green. The green color indicates it reaches to the maximum adsorption.

Most of the moisture-absorbing solutions can be reactivated. Similarly, orange silica gel can be reactivated by heat to dry it. When it turns to orange color, it is ready to use again. Moisture absorbing solutions increases the product life span by drying it out. therefore it uses mostly in cargos and shipping items.

Absorbing moisture from the surface of a product is a type of safety process. In industries, the moisture-absorbing solution has a major role to protect their product. Whatever the product, to get a long life it should be moisture-free.

In the shipment processes, products should be safe in containers. In many cases, it will take many months to reach the destination. In this period it is not possible to check whether the product is safe or not by removing the covering. So we have to make sure our product is safe before the journey starts. That time desiccants can help us.

No need to worry about the type of good that you are going to ship, or the distance and climates of the journey, moisture-absorbing solutions will reduce the risk of damage to your products from humidity and condensation.

As the distance, the climate is also a big problem during shipment. If it is by fights or ships, the atmospheric differences will take place. Due to the climate or atmospheric change, there is a chance for getting disturbed by the packing products. Moisture inside the containers is the main issue to damage the products. The most common and the best in the industry are Clariant desiccant,  Clariant oxy-guard, and Clariant container Dri.

Therefore we have to make sure the product is free from moisture. We can use moisture-absorbing solutions for this purpose, like desiccant, oxy-guard or silica gel. These products are commonly used to absorb the moisture from the surface of the products. 

There should be a big loss if we did not care about this issue. For example, if one thousand containers worth 25 thousand dollars each experience a monetary loss of 3%, it means 750,000 dollars cargo loss. If it is 6%, the cargo loss will be 1.5 million Dollars. This is a huge loss. To avoid this, moisture-absorbing solutions are using commonly all over the world.
