Dynamic Rope

A dynamic rope is a stretchable rope. It is specially manufactured, somewhat elastic rope used primarily in rock climbing, ice climbing, and mountaineering. The word stretch makes the rope 'dynamic', in contrast to a static rope or semi-static rope that has very low elastic behavior.

Dynamic ropes can be classified into three types: single, half, and twin. For most of the applications, only a single rope is needed. The single ropes are available with different diameters from 9.2 to 10.5 mm and are perfect for sport climbing, top-roping, and big wall routes.

It's perfectly good to use a dynamic rope for the abseil. But if you're going to be doing it lots of time, there is a chance for the knacker your rope so it would be best to use a static rope or semi-static rope for the job.

For customary, general-purpose wire ropes, in measuring diameter, the industry is leaning toward a “soft” conversion to metric during the transition period. In sizes smaller than 5/8′: the rope diameter is rounded to the closest 0.5 mm.

All-round climbing rope's average diameter is  9.8 mm to 10.2 mm. You won't fail with one thing in this range, but your personal sweet spot for a particular type of climbing may vary from 8.9 mm to 10.7 mm. A static rope or semi-static rope is better for rappelling because it's easy to pull. It has a few wears from rappelling over edges, etc.

But dynamic ropes are also often used for rappelling. It is not good to climb with a static rope though, because it doesn't stretch to absorb shock, therefore there is a chance for breaking it suddenly.

Dynamics ropes are a part of abseiling. Two ropes needed for it. Through the anchor thread the end of one rope and hold one end of each rope together to make a loop at least 60 centimeter from the end. Put the ends of the ropes through the loop to make an overhand knot. Pull every strand of rope terribly tight on either aspect of the knot, ensuring the knot is neat.

The rope access system is started in the early 1980s, The technique is originally developed by Cavers. And it is adopted as a rope access system as we know it today. Cavers rope system is using only one rope. But in rope access system we added one more additional rope for working at height.

In the rope access system, this secondary rope is added as safety equipment. One rope is used to hang and hold the person who is using the rope access method, while the other rope is used to protect the person. If something happened unexpectedly, this second rope can secure the person.

Unexpected falls and injuries were common while working at the height. It makes more difficulties to get persons for this job. Even for the employer also, it was difficult. But the rope access system made it is an easy and safe job. Employees were get attracted to this system because the risk of the job becomes less.

Specially designed rope access equipment is used for rope access technique to perform each job very well without any damages and losses. For example, ropes are available as static rope, semi-static rope, and dynamic rope. Each job characteristics are different. Before choosing it, we have to consider our application.

If it is a static rope, there will be no changes in the length or width of the rope after each work. And, by hanging weights, it will not expand, therefore the chances to break the rope are high. If it is a dynamic rope, it is highly elastic. It can expand its length more by hanging the weight.

Therefore we are using semi-static rope for rope access system normally. Because it has a medium level expansion capability. While hanging the weight, it will expand and after removing the weight it will contrast. Therefore semi-static ropes are the most suitable rope for rope access systems.

A semi-static rope is an important part of the rope access equipment kit. There are different devices in a rope access kit. One of the main elements is rope, and the ropes are available in different characters.

For rope access purposes, the rope will be a semi-static rope. Because dynamic rope and static ropes are not suitable for this. Dynamic ropes are highly stretchable. therefore it will not use for mountain climbing activities. Because when we placing a load there is a chance for highly stretching.

Static ropes also not suitable because they should not have the expansion or contraction property. When a load or fall on the static rope will lead to damage and injury. So the better choice is a semi-static rope. It has less stretch than dynamic rope but it is stretchable than static rope. It is suitable for mountain activities. when you are a long way down, it will have a little bit of "bounce".

Harness

The safety harness is available in different types like full-body harness, sit-harness, chest harness...etc. The harness is an equipment used for rock climbing, abseiling, building maintenance or cleaning, or other activities that require ropes for safety like rope access, working at heights...etc.

The harness is used as a piece of safety equipment. When the technician or worker is working on the heights or in any extraordinary activities, safety harness used to secure them to a rope.

In its simplest type, a harness is made of a length of rope or a nylon webbing tied round the waist. However, this is extremely uncomfortable unless the wearer is very light. It also can ride up to the abdomen or maybe the diaphragm underneath load and cause serious injury. Looping the rope between the legs can stop this, although care ought to be taken to avoid sensitive areas. More refined safety harnesses exist in several patterns, designed to grant bigger comfort and security, and a lot of choices for carrying equipment.

Rope access equipment is mostly used for the actions which are required extra activities like building maintenance, mountain climbing...etc. Window cleaning or window washing is also one of the activities which are required rope access technicians. But all these jobs are at high risk, therefore it should be done by the highly qualitative technician only.

Building cleaning or window cleaning can be done manually by using rope access equipment. It consists of a variety of tools for cleaning and access. Technology is also employed and increased automation. 

If a window is not accessible to clean it by using any one type of rope access equipment, then we can combine different devices to be able to clean it properly. Semi-Static Rope:

Ropes are available in different forms like static rope, semi-static rope, and dynamic rope...etc. Static ropes are designed not to stretch when we are placing a load. It will not expand or contract. As the name indicates, it should be static all the time. The static ropes will not be used for mountain climbing that much because of its non-stretching behavior.

The dynamic ropes are the opposite of static rope. it is stretchable. Mostly for the mountain climbing activities, dynamic ropes are using. A fall or a small load on a static rope will lead to stop it suddenly and the chance for injury. Therefore it is not suitable for climbing activities. Semi-static ropes are the intermediate one of static rope and dynamic rope.

Semi-static ropes (AKA low stretch) are utilized in caving, and that they area unit rated to carry low-impact falls underneath FF1. There are different types of UIAA certifications for ropes. Semi-static rope, dynamic rope, and full static ropes are the various certifications.

Low stretch kernmantel ropes (static ropes) are designed for protection of persons working at height and above free depth, for use in rope access, speleology, human rescue and other similar activities (combined ascent and descent of persons, safety device for work positioning in rope access, lowering and raising of persons in rescue, as a means for ascent, descent and horizontal motion in speleology).

The rope is always a part of the rope access system. Neither the manufacturer nor the distributor shall be held responsible for damages caused by improper use of the low stretch kernmantel rope (referred to as “rope” hereinafter).

Use of low stretch kernmantel ropes according to EN 1891. There area unit 2 sorts of static ropes obtainable, type A ropes and type B ropes. Type B ropes are sized for lower performance than type A ropes. Both rope varieties should be protected in use against mechanical damages (abrasion, cutting, chafing, etc).

The static ropes don't seem to be designed for impressive falls, the user shall avoid this risk. Check before use that the semi-static rope is compatible with the remaining components of your instrumentation. The manufacturer recommends testing the whole equipment in a safe place with no risk of falls.
