All rope access equipment is used for the safety and protection of employees. It should be the primary concern.

The rope access technician is webbing from one rope, while the second rope functions as a back-up in the unlikely event that the first rope is defective. All rope access equipment has to keep a standard and is manufactured and approved for industrial use. Rope access can't be compared in any way to rappelling.
