Activated Alumina and Transformer Breather
Related to the removal of fluoride from natural mineral waters by filtration through a bed of activated alumina the Scientific Panel on Food Additives, Flavourings, Processing Aids and substances in direct contact with Food (AFC) has been asked to evaluate the food safety aspects.
Natural Mineral Waters at source may contain levels of fluoride higher than the maximum concentration limits. This limit is established for the constituents of natural mineral waters by the Commission Directive 2003/40/EEC. Removal of the fluoride is only allowed by an authorized process. Activated alumina is a good agent to purify the water.
There are some critical procedures to follow while treating water by using activated alumina. Information concerning the source and treatment of activated alumina and the filtration process conditions was provided by the concerned authority.
The air from the atmosphere is drawn into the transformer breather when the oil cools down. This is called the breathing of the transformer. Transformer breathers are helping to avoid the water content from the atmosphere. In power generation industries, many processes required this. So it is helpful to maintain the required moisture content on the atmosphere.
Silica Gel Transformer Breather
Mostly silica gel transformer breathers are used by power generation companies. They are using transformer breathers fitted to the conservator of oil-filled transformers. The main purpose of this in power generation companies is to absorb moisture during the breathing process.
What is Transformer Breather
The insulating oil of the transformer breather gets heated up, expands and gets expelled out into the conservator tank when the load on the transformer increases or when the transformer under full load. The oil present at the top of the power transformer and subsequently pushes the dry air out of the conservator tank through the silica gel breather This process is known as breathing out of the transformer.
