What is Karabiner?

A carabiner is a metal device that belongs to rope access equipmentIt is available in different shapes, however, the common available or used device is in D-shape or oblong metal ring including one spring-hinged side. It is used especially for mountain climbing as an attaching device and to hold a freely running rope. It can be used for connecting any other devices also.

Sometimes carabiner is writing as Karabiner. It is a specialized form of the connector or a metal loop with a spring-loaded side on one side. This part is the main portion of karabiner and it is used to connect with other equipment or ropes. 

A basic rope access equipment kit will have carabiners. It is commonly used in the activities related to rope access techniques such as climbing, arboriculture, caving, sailing, hot air ballooning, rope rescue, construction, industrial rope work, window cleaning, whitewater rescue, and acrobatics. They are made from both steel and aluminum.

carabiners are also used in sports-related activities. But the one used for sports activities is comparatively lightweight than those we used for rope access techniques and rescue methods. That maybe mini-karabiners, carabiner keyrings or other light-use clips of the same style and design. There are different styles available in the category of carabiners.

A carabiner is a special type of connector or metal loop. It can be used to connect or hold any items easily. Apart from rope access equipment, carabiners are used in hot air balloons to connect the basket with the envelope and it is classifieds at 2.5 tonnes, 3 tonnes or 4 tonnes. That means we can use carabiners to hold even heavy things also.

Carabiners are proven as a strong metallic element and it is easy to use. All the rescue activists and adventurists definitely keep carabiners in their device collections.
