Speed Hump and Wheel Stopper
Speed humps are speed breakers. It is used to reduce the speed of vehicles. It can be placed permanently as well as temporarily. In order to improve safety conditions some traffic calming devices are being used. These devices use vertical deflection to slow motor-vehicle traffic.
Speed Hump one of the families of these traffic calming devices. Generally, they are traffic thresholds. It is a global device. Around the globe, everywhere, vertical deflection devices are using to control the speed of vehicles as a safety concern. Mostly it is used to enforce the speed limit under 40 Km per hour or lower.
Not only to reduce the speed of the vehicles, but also speed humps are used to protect the cables passing through the traffic areas. As we know lots of cables are running through the underground, sometimes beneath our roads. But if we need to run a cable through the road after finished road works, the better option is not digging, it is cable protector. It will act as a speed hump.
Wheel Stopper
Wheel Stopper is also one of the members of the above family. It is also used for safety purposes. Wheel stoppers are also known as wheel blockers or wheel chock. But the main difference between a speed hump and wheel stopper is, speed humps are used for running vehicles, while wheel stoppers are used for the parked vehicles only.
Once we parked our vehicle in a slop area, we are required for a wheel stopper to make sure the vehicle will not move without our interruption. Because it is part of safety. Once the vehicle is moved without driver it will make high-level injuries.
Wheel stoppers are used for aircraft also. Once it is parked to avoid unnecessary movements, wheel stoppers are used to block the wheels. If we are loading or unloading a truck, we can understand the importance of wheel stoppers.
