Junction Box and Cable Lugs

A junction box is a common and familiar device to all. It is really important to protect people from the flow of electrical current. An industrial junction box is an electrical enclosure that securely unites multiple cables and wires through various ports of entry.

Junction boxes are available in different sizes, and the size of it is depending on the number and type of connections required. A junction box performs many important functions. Safety is always the primary thing. A junction box serves to keep people and animals away from living electrical connections. The enclosure helps to avoid contact of outside elements with the terminations.

Standard junction boxes are using for simple power distribution applications. It can measure 2 x 3 x 2.5 inches and can hold up to three wires. Normally we are using it in houses. Large size junction boxes are used in industrial level applications. And that are often custom-built to support many different types of wire and cable entering and exiting the box. The junction box can be mounted either on a building or on machinery.

Cable Lugs

Cable Lugs are used to connect cables and wires to the devices. The connection should be proper always. Otherwise, it can harm people or animals or their surroundings also. Cable lugs are really helpful to make a proper connection.

If you stripped the cable to connect with a device and removed its outer insulated area, then that cable must have a non-insulated dangerous portion. Touching that part while flowing current can make a big loss to humans. Therefore that part must be connected to the device properly. Cable lugs have a part to insert non-insulated area of cables and wires.

It is not easy to connect a bare non-insulated part of cable with a device. the copper wires will scatter then. If it touches any other metallic part of the device can pass the electricity through it. To avoid the scattering of the copper cables, cable lugs are a really important element.
