Junction box and circuit breaker

Junction Box and Circuit Breaker

Do you know what is the primary function of a junction box?
We can say that the primary purpose of the junction box is safety. We can define it as the primary function of the junction box is to restrict the inside terminations from the outside elements like moisture and dust or dirt.

The secondary purpose of the junction box is based on the application. It can be applications such as to distribute power from one location to another or multiple locations. Or else it can be the collection of control signals from various input and output devices, such as sensors and buttons, which are then brought back to a central control cabinet or control panel.

In both of the applications, the junction box provides a test point and is usually mentioned in reference to a schematic in order to assist with maintenance. Maintenance and safety having great importance in keeping and protecting equipment and the facility in an operational state, as the network points out on their site.

Circuit Breaker

A circuit breaker can be defined as an electrical switch that can operate automatically. There are many different designs and mechanisms are available in the range of circuit breakers. Circuit breakers are operating, unlike fuses. They can only operate once and need to be replaced, But a circuit-breaker can be reset.

We can classified circuit breakers mainly as two:
1. Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB)
2. Residual Current Circuit Breaker (RCCB)
In MCB (Miniature Circuit Breaker), there are two types, Magnetic type, and Thermal type.

Magnetic Type: This type of circuit breaker contains an electromagnet. If the current exceeds the rating of the circuit-breaker the pulling force of the magnet attracts an iron latch that breaks the electrical contacts. Thermal Type: This type is using the heating effect of electricity on a bi-metallic strip. An increase in current makes the bimetallic strip to bend which breaks contact made via a latch mechanism.
