Cargo Desiccant

Cargo Desiccant

Desiccants are used to avoid moisture damages. Cargo desiccants are nothing but the desiccants which are used to keep along with the cargo packs. Any good desiccant can be used, however some companies are using the specific cargo desiccants. In long time shipping, desiccants will help us to protect our cargo.

Silica gel can be used as a cargo desiccant. Many industries are transporting goods and cargoes by shipping. By transporting through shipping the chances to get damages due to container rain is high. Container rain is the moisture content developing due to the atmospheric temperature change during the travel.

To avoid these container rain, container desiccants can be used. These are known as shipping container desiccants, and are used to protect goods from moisture inside a shipping container. There are two types of container desiccants: gel and liquid water.

silica gel desiccant

Silica gel desiccants are widely used as a cargo desiccant and the active ingredient for both categories such as gel and liquid is calcium chloride. The best way to protect your cargo is use a dehumidifier in your shipping container and container Insulation. Container insulation maintain the inside temperature warmer above the dew point, avoiding condensation from forming.

Cargo litters can use to absorb water content, but the most effective thing is cargo desiccantsDesiccants can absorb water content, so after a while they stop their absorption process. But one of the main advantages of silica gel is it is 100 % reusable.

To check the moisture absorbing ability of silica gel, just put a silica gel packet or a teaspoon of silica gel in a clean fabric bag, and tie up the opening of the bag. Make sure it is maximum tight so the silica granules cannot escape. keep this desiccant bags anywhere you want to absorb moisture to see the magic.
