History of Cable Ties
Cable ties were 1st fabricated by Thomas & Betts, an electrical company, in 1958 below the brand Ty-Rap. Initially, they were designed for airplane wire harnesses. The original style used a metal tooth, and these will still be obtained. Manufacturers later changed to the nylon/plastic design.
The design of cable ties has over the years been extended and developed into various spin-off products. One example was an automatic loop developed as another to purse-string suture in colon junction.
Ty-Rap cable tie inventor, Maurus C. Logan worked for Thomas & Betts and finished his career with the corporate as VP of analysis and Development. During his tenure at Thomas & Betts, he contributed to the event and promoting of the many prosperous Thomas & Betts products. Logan died on 12 November 2007, at the age of 86.
Cable Tie and Banding Tool
Cable ties are available in different materials such as plastic, nylon, stainless steel, multi-purpose cable ties...etc. Sometimes we need a banding tool to apply these cable ties. Banding tools are designed to make the tying process easy and simple. Some cable ties are specially designed for outdoor uses. It can withstand in the harsh atmosphere. It will not affect rust also. For this purpose, stainless steel cable ties are commonly using. Normally black-colored cable ties are strong comparing to other colors. But for distinguishing easily, we can go with multi-color cable ties.
Normally stainless steel cable ties are tying by the use of banding tools. It is strong and not easy to fold or tie manually. But by using banding tools, we can simplify the job. banding tools are two types: Power tools and hand tools.
