Rope Access Equipment

Rope access is a system which is used in areas that other equipment can't reach simply. This can be used in many different areas from confined spaces to tower sites. In rope access there are many advanced techniques to suit all type of environments. Because many environments are not easy to work with.

The method rope access is using various rope access equipment along with a rope. The rope used to perform rope access work also not the normal one. There are some specific characteristics to choose a rope and this should be a semi static rope. Static rope and dynamic rope also using in some cases as per the behavior of the work.

Rope access can be used to perform many type of inspections such as piping, columns, vessels, supports, and other structures. Rope access technicians are doing various inspections by using rope access equipment with nondestructive testing (NDT) methods. The reason for this is the work can be completed in a safe and timely manner.

How does a rope access system work? Rope access system allow workers to perform different activities. Descend, ascend, and traverse ropes all these could be perform easily while connecting to a harness or seat. Rope Access technique is a dual rope system, this is used as a back-up rope for workers in case their primary rope system fails.

Rope access has different levels. Internationally there are 3 levels. Personal rope access equipment of a level 1 rope access technician can be inspected by themselves. It will be under their responsibility. Under the guidance of a higher level person, level 1 technicians are able to assist in rigging and non-standard operations.

These technicians are able to undertake a rescue involving descent by him/herself and have a knowledge of hauling systems. And all these certifications will be done by IRATA International. The system rope access has been developed by them itself. 

Silica gel and Oxygen absorber

Silica gel and oxygen absorbers are entirely different products, but their main purpose is similar. Both of these products are used to absorb moisture from the surroundings. They are porous in structure. Therefore they can absorb moisture content more than their weight. These two products are eligible to reuse after some processes.

Silica gel and oxygen absorbers may stop absorbing moisture once they reached to their maximum limit. But luckily we have an option to reuse silica gel by reheating it. For home purposes we can simply reheat it by using an oven and can be use it again.

But for commercial purposes it is not possible. So for this we can reheat silica gel by using some other industrial methods. Otherwise just replace it with new as it is very cheaper by cost. Many options available in the market for silica gel.

Oxygen absorbers are used to absorb moisture especially from food products. They are tested and certified to keep along with food items. To accommodate any custom size, they have been transformed from dried iron-powder sachets to simple self-adhesive patches. It helps to customize the sachets as per the capacity and application.

Oxygen concentration can be effectively lowered to 100 ppm by using oxygen absorbers. So they are really effective. Actually oxygen absorbers are not new in the market. They are already using with wide range of food products such as bread, meat, fish, fruit, and cheese, ...etc. They are completely safe as well as non toxic to use with food products, even it is not an edible item.

The main reason that we are using oxygen absorbers is they will not release any harmful gases to outside. We know that it is a chemical. But however they will not act with any other substances. They can help us for the preservation of food and pharmaceutical products to reduce food wastage in developed nations and increased food security in the developing & third world.

Oxygen Absorber and Silica Gel

Oxygen absorbers are one of the fast moving product to keep food items as fresh for a long time. Food preservation has an important role in modern life style. Most of the working people doesn't have time to prepare fresh food on every meal time. They are always approaching to long shelf food.

To establish and improve shelf life of the food products, acceptability of the customers and increase in the food security, it is must to preserve the packaged food against oxidative degradation. Oxygen absorbers can remove excess dissolved oxygen, and it can maintain the color, exact texture and aroma of different food ingredient, and most importantly inhibition of food spoilage microbes.

Within the food industry, Ferrous iron oxides are the most commonly used oxygen absorbers. Over and over decades, food packaging technology has improved in food preservation. This technology is mainly applied to increase the quality of oxygen absorber and to the sealing of foods in oxygen impermeable package material.

Oxygen absorbers are belongs to the category of silica gel. Silica gel is used to absorb moisture from the surroundings. It can helps to keep the things fresh by removing excess moisture from it. There are many items that will get damaged due to the presence of moisture content.

For example we can see tiny silica gel packets along with our new pair of shoes (Inside the box) or with our laptops (Inside the bags). The reason behind this is these product can get damaged because of excess moisture. Therefore the manufactures are keeping silica gel packets along with these products.

One of the condition that we need to consider while keeping silica gel along with the product is it could be in a closed container. Otherwise this small packets will start to absorb moisture from the atmosphere also if they are exposed to outside.

Cable Cleats and Clamps

Cable cleats can be used to provide security to the wires and cables while installing them at intervals throughout the length of cables. They can provide resistance to electromechanical forces. It can be used to fix, clamp and support cables and wires.

Effective short circuit protection can be provided by cable cleats, to secure electrical installations, it can give support and retention to LV, MV & HV power cable systems when installed at intervals to circuits. Short circuits are always an head ache in every cable connections. Cable cleats can avoid it up to a certain limit.

Cable cleats should be installed at a distance of 300mm, CMP recommends it as a guide to good practice that throughout the changes in direction this meter is required. This distance is not possible in some cases because of the lack of substructure, in that cases as an alternative to cable cleats intermediate restraints are recommended.

Cable cleats are also known as cable clamps. They are belongs to electrical accessories for wire and cable. It can provide the same usage of a cable tie. Cable ties are flexible and cable cleats are rigid structures. To bundle, clip, clamp, and protect wires and cables, cable clamps can be used.

In the installation and maintenance of cable systems, cable clamps have an important role. If you are installing wires and cables first you need to think about the cable management system. That means it should be properly maintained for secure connections as well as for long term use. We can protect the cables and wires with a clamp to avoid damage and strained connections.

Cable clamps are available in different sizes and shapes. More important it is available in made up of different materials. Depends on the type of electrical system that we are using, we can choose cable clamps.

Cable Termination Kit & Cable Lugs

According to the type of cable, type of connector and application, the ways used to terminate the cables will be different. The common types of cable terminations can be classified as:

• Crimp connection
• Soldered connection
• Compression termination
• Wire-wrapping connection
• Direct connection
• Loop or eye connection.

Electrical cable terminations can be classified as four: chip, coaxial, SCSI, and waveguide. To terminate and connect 11kV/33kV cables into medium or high voltage electrical equipment we can use cable termination kit. These electrical equipment can be switchgear, transformer, motor, enclosure or pole-top mounted for overhead line distribution networks.

How to connect a termination kit? We can start by making a straight cut in the end of the cable. Then place the connector ferrule over the end of the cable. To meet the required cable diameter and stripping requirements adjust the two- or three-step coax stripping tool. 

To connect cables into any electrical appliances or with other cables or surfaces or mechanisms, we can use cable lugs. At the end of the cable terminal kits, we can connect either cable lugs or cable glands to connect it with the devices or cables or machines. One example for the cable lug is the clamps that connect wires to an automotive battery.

Cable lugs can also used to connect fuse sockets, load switches and electrical appliances other than for connecting cables and power lines. Cable lugs are basically three types. One is Plain type. This plain type cable lug is used for general purpose seamless electrical terminals which are not required any installation characteristics.

Another one is mechanical cable lugs. They are available bolted with two screws or with four screws. And the final one is compression lugs or grounding lugs. This lug is welded to a massive structure at one end. The other end contains a hole. When we are using this, a bolt will be placed through the hole of the cable lug.

Cable Tray and Cable Ladder

A cable tray is a bridging system designed to support insulted electrical cables and wires. Also they are used to protect and safely carry cables. Commonly available cable trays in the market are: Ladder Type Cable Tray, Solid Bottom Cable Tray, Trough Cable Tray, Channel Cable Tray, Wire Mesh Cable Tray, and Single Rail Cable Tray.

Cable trays are available in different sizes and in different materials. They are different in shapes as well. Cable trays are making with different materials such as galvanized steel, aluminum, stainless steel and glass-fiber reinforced plastic.

Cable trays are normally available in sizes such as 50x25 mm, 100x25 mm, 150x50 mm, 300x50 mm, 450x50 mm, 600x50 mm, 750x50 mm and 1000x100 mm, and thickness - 3-7 mm. Cable trays are giving mechanical support for electrical cables, raceways, and insulated conductors used for electric power distribution, control, signal instrumentation, and communication.

Cable ladder systems also something similar to cable tray systems. They are also designed for supports for cables and wires. These are not as enclosures giving full mechanical protection. Cable trays are actually entirely different from ladders, walk ways or support for people. They can cause injuries and damage the system and any installed cables.

cable ladder actually looks like a ladder as the name indicates. The main reason for using cable ladders is that it provides more strengthened support for the cables. Cables can be fasten by using cable ladders. They are carrying it all the way with good mechanical support.

The cables and wires should be properly maintained because they are always installing for a long time purpose. Cable trays and cable ladders are a part of this cable management system. They are used to organize the cables properly. Cable ladders and cable trays are providing rigid structures.

Tags and Ties

We all are familiar with cable tags and cable ties. Cable tags are used as an identification method for cables and wires, while cable ties are used as a part of cable management system. Cable tags also coming under cable management as naming of cables can reduce the time and cost while doing any kind of troubleshoot in the future.

We can do printing as well on cable ties and tags. Different types of cables tags are available in the market. As per our requirement we can choose the matched one. Cable tags are available in different sizes and in different colors as well. Mainly it is available in different materials. For various type of applications, this will be really helpful.

If you are using stainless steel cable tags you can do metal engraving, metal embossing, and metal imprinting as well. It is always best to check whether your scanner will acceptably read the tags before and after print and submitting them to your specific environmental conditions.

Cable ties are normally used to hold the cables by avoiding movements. Different colored cable ties are available and different sizes too. From plastic ties to metallic giant cable ties are available in the market.

Usually the pricing is decided by the time duration needed to produce the image on the cable tag. Therefore, for the larger images, the cost will be higher. We can make logos, bar codes, texts in wide variety of fonts. Can be do custom identification also. Each job is unique, so always need to check the pricing individually.

If a bar coded tag is scanning by using a hand held scanner, you can consider decreasing the size of the cable tag to save time and some money. Direct pricing from the factories for these tags can range from 0.35 to 3.50 $ per tag. It is depending on the size, quantity, setup costs, fixture designs and programming costs.
